The music we listened to in the 1960s & 70s was phenomenal, but we didn't know it then. It was music that we enjoyed, & it would always exist. We also had a wonderful radio station, CHOM-FM at 97.7.
Perry, I really enjoyed this article and getting to know these musicians, and CHOM-FM at 97.7, who are so central to learning about Quebec music. The '60s and '70s were fantastic decades of creativity in music.
Nice selection Perry. Heady days indeed. I also remember the antics of the DJs at CHOM. Like the day Earl Jive decided out of the blue, to do a 24 hour marathon. Of course, all the other DJs showed up to support him and it turned into a big party. Earl Jive can still be heard on air once a week doing a show called O Canada from Laguna Beach, California at KXFM from 7-8 PM on Wednesdays, where he still plays a wide variety of music including music from Quebec. This show can also be heard several times a week at CFNYtheSpirit.com.
That is the Biosphere, which was the U.S.pavilion at Expo 67, the world’s fait. It was designed by Buckmaster Fuller. It is quite a place.
Montreal's Parc Jean-Drapeau writes: “Housing the United States pavilion during the Expo 67 world's fair, this architectural masterpiece was designed by noted American architect Buckminster Fuller. The Biosphère is a unique and spectacular site, located in the heart of Montréal at Parc Jean-Drapeau.”
That was quite a spectacular world's fair; I was nine.
We played CKGM all the time, and you are not wrong.
Thank you; it is good to be right about something.🕊🦜

Thanks John; the link didn't work. But I found the show at

My apologies Perry. The link should have been https://www.nythespirit.com/index.php
Also, I recently created my own similar playlist of Quebec Rock here on Substack at https://johnsjukebox.substack.com/p/quebec-rock
Yes, I took a quick look I left a comment, John.
Thank you Perry; nice introduction to the music. On the first video, what's that huge spherical 'meccano/geodesic' structure? Cheers, Josh.

Thank you; I thought it had Bucky's signature on it. I vaguely remember 'Expo-67' was quite a thing (I was 11).
I look forward to listening to those tracks!
A different part of Canada, but I remember seeing The Rankin Family from Nova Scotia in concert in Edinburgh many years ago,
Yes, I am.familiar with the Rankin Family. Wonderful. I hope that you enjoy some of the Quebecois music.
I did, thanks, particularly Michel Pagliaro.
I’m a child of the 60’s but totally American; I enjoyed perusing your writings. Ty for sharing; I enjoyed some of the 🎶 music!
So nice of you to drop in.
Ty, Perry!! ❤️
