When it comes to animals and nature, the times are few when we ever have known best.

It’s awesome spot. I was there is 1970s. A really cool example of science and how nature effects all of our lives in unique ways. Moving to the Big Island, in 2002, really was mind expanding and I’m so in touch with Mother Nature, Pele, our flora and fauna. We are so remote, we go without many services, infrastructure. But in the end, a very peaceful awe inspiring place. Good to read your work. Thank you.

Excellent article Perry on the beaver and it’s relationship and importance these creatures have on our ecosystem. Knowledge is awareness. I’ve seen a lot of beavers in Montana, where I was born. Thank you for sharing! 🥰🦫

An excellent essay Perry. I am fortunate to be able to see beavers fairly regularly in the area I hike. They are a fascinating animal and I like to think of them as Nature's civil engineers.

I enjoyed reading about the beavers. I’ve never seen one but love that they work so hard and mate for life. Things to aspire to as a human!

Great article on beavers, Perry. And greetings to you & Arya from Oregon, the Beaver State. We also have field biology programs underway, as well as enhanced protections for these incredible engineers. Among so many of their benefits, they create natural fire breaks. We have much to learn from their practices.

I did not know Oregon is the beaver state. So wonderful to know. Yes, indeed, we have much to learn from beavers. Thank you, Heidi.

Thanks, Perry. It's a very nice article on beavers. It's great that their numbers are increasing. I used to see them up close around my house in Ottawa all the time. I made a video on them if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/KUYEyCbVyaM

Leave it to Beaver TV sitcom years ago. Who knew how ecologically efficient these creatures could be. Natural balance beams of nature. Forces that can control heavens winter rain/ snow runoff and reduce erosion, destruction all from a dam that has leaks to contain but continues the water’s flow.

Excellent post, beavers are amazing animals! Here in the UK, European beavers are being reintroduced into selected areas (and escaping or being illegally released into other areas). They are having amazing impacts on the areas where they're being reintroduced (particularly in terms of reducing downstream flooding in some areas) but their reintroduction is not without controversy among some farmers

Yes, the farmers will take time to be won over. But when they see the overall beneficial results, I expect they will be. Thanks for your comment, Juliet.

How inspiring and educational! Thank you, Perry. I enjoyed reading your post about our friends, the Beavers. I remember watching documentaries about them with my Dad, as a child, and he would always admire their building skills. 🙂❤

Beautiful article Perry! I have had an up close and intimate relationship with beavers! Big teeth. Marvellous engineers. Beautiful to watch them in action. They are on the Canadian nickel for a reason! Definitely a symbol of Canada. The frenzied chase for her fur in the wild bush created a country. 🙏❤️
