How about an album full of songs in dedication to birds? This is Romantic avian poetry, of beauty and majesty, suitable for our modern tastes. It might even be necessary. Yes, this is true.
Thank you for this excellent article, Perry. I love the blending of Rossettiβs poetry with the music video and most of all, the tribute to birds. They fly with their wings, but they also fly with their songs and I find a similar effect, grounded as I am, in music and in singing. Song is something we have in common with birds. I noticed in the comments the awe of seeing Bald Eagles. I see them here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon on a regular basis, but when I was growing up, I never saw them. They are a testament to the Endangered Species Act working.
I was devastated when our property was logged, but the DNR officer told me to wait. He said animals will flock to the area and there will be a cacophony of bird songs. He was right!!! I have never heard so many birds in my life. It's been gorgeous and soothing to my soul. I ordered binoculars so I can start identifying them now! I even had a BALD EAGLE in a tree above me! They definitely make our world a beautiful place.
Wow; I would love to see an American bald eagle or any eagle. There is the Merlin bird app that can be helpful in identifying birds. I used it a few times, but now I know all the birds in my area.
The mornings in Autumn are much quieter then spring and early summer when the birds are chirping and singing away preparing nests and raising their young. I love the mornings of spring with the song of the robins, and especially after. A rainstorm. I love listening to the call of the cardinal or the wren. And i look forward to the call of the White throat sparrow as he sings his lonely song deep in the woods behind my home. Its a true sign for me that winter is on its way. In winter the birds are quiet except for the occasional sound of the jays, the barred owls at night, the murder of crows, and my favorite the lone white throat early in the morning as the sun is just lighting up the forest floor.
I forgot to mention, what a beautiful post and tribute to the Birds. It just got me thinking about how much I love the mornings, and beginning my days outside listening to them sing, watching them gather their morning meals!
Loved the music, Perry. And yes, the mysteries of birds migrating and so on, plus the many more mysteries of Nature, when contemplated are one way of staying sane in a mad world.
We can't rely on Technology (which is supposed to have 'tamed Nature') but we can rely on Nature to be wild and free, and feel that wild freedom in our bones when we take time to be with Her.
Wonderful music and video, Perry. This is such a great point you make: "A bird taking a majestic flight is, without a doubt, a thing of beauty. It is also magical."
I never tire of seeing birds of all manner in flight. One in particular that I have been noticing again are the Ring-billed Gulls. They are everywhere here in the Ottawa area and I think they are such a treat and wonder to see in flight. They seem to do well in all kinds of weather and landscapes - a true miracle. Thank you for sharing, Perry.

You probably never tire of seeing the bald eagles; one day I hope to see one or more.
You would love them, they have great power. I hope you get to see one soon.:)

It is true; there is less bird song now. I still hear the sparrows, blue jays and the crows, but less in number.

Thank you, Karafree. Yes, I do love when the birds congregate, vocalize and then fly off.

Beautifully stated, Joshua; I could not agree more.ππ¦π

Same here, Neil; I am enthralled by seeing birds flying. They are magical.π¦ππ¦
