Happy Canada Day, Eh!
We Canadians are not particularly patriotic, but we do love our nation—from coast to coast. If someone threatens us, like 51st state nonsense, we'll stand up for ourselves and our nation. Elbows Up.
Here are a few musical selections to support Canada Day; today, our nation celebrates its 158th birthday today. Yes, the incoherent ramblings of the Trump Regime has hit a nerve; it has also awakened us to what we have often taken for granted. No, we do not want to be a 51st state; we are a sovereign nation, with our own history, culture and way of doing things.
Besides, we like our maple syrup, poutine and ketchup chips, along with beaver tails and Nanaimo bars. We like our smoked meat and our Montreal bagels. We like our beer strong and our hearts open. But make no mistake, we’ll defend ourselves.
Elbows Up Canada!
This is a Song That Makes Sense to Canadians
I’m a Canadian
Ian & Sylvia Tyson: Four Strong Winds
From a 1986 CBC concert. The song is as Canadian as it gets and it dates to 1962, when Ian Tyson wrote it.
Happy Canada Day. Happy 158th birthday to Canada. I don’t envy Prime Minister Mark Carney having to negotiate with Pres. Donald Trump. But he seems up to the task and will negotiate in a Canadian way, not with bullying and bluster. No, but with calm and rational language to build consensus.
